Idris Elba is (obviously) the first man on a Maxim magazine cover
I don’t fuck with Maxim at all. I mean, even this fucking cover. “Man up”? Yuck. But I totally do fuck with Idris Elba. So I’m posting this fecaltainment news despite my better judgment.
Idris Elba is a man of many hats. Aside from being an actor best known for his roles on BBC’sLuther and HBO’s The Wire, he is a designer on the verge of presenting a new clothing line, has been known to get on the ones and twos and recently broke the 1928 British land speed record in a Bentley.
All these details are well and good, but the Star Trek: Beyond actor is making history once again as he is the first male to ever grace the cover of popular men’s magazine, Maxim. According to the publication’s new editor-in-chief, Kate Lanphear, there was no one else in the world right for the job:
“We’ve never in U.S. Maxim history had a man on the cover solo,” new editor-in-chief Kate Lanphear told Racked. “This is the very first time, and there was no one else in the world more badass than Idris.”
