Xbox One will be backwards compatible with the 360. Your move, Sony.
I don’t know if I’m alone, but I value backwards compatibility a lot. So this is fucking rad news for me.
Xbox One will be backward compatible with Xbox 360 games, Microsoft announced today at its E3 keynote event.
“The games you have invested your time and money in will be able to be played natively on your Xbox One,” head of Xbox Phil Spencer said.
Users will have to have the original disc, play it in the slot drive, and download a digital edition to the Xbox One. One hundred games will be supported by this holiday.
“We won’t charge you to play the games you already own,” Microsoft said on stage. Members of the Xbox One preview program will have a selection games available now, with the general public seeing the feature by this holiday.
Per Microsoft, here are the games initially available for backward compatibility.
