Maybe: Ben Mendelsohn playing ‘Star Wars: Rogue One’ villain
I am most acquainted with Ben Mendelsohn as the fuckboy that Bane readily handles in The Dark Knight Rises. But the dude is a pretty rad actor in other stuff escaping my mind, and so I’m down with him being cast as the villain. As Rendar said to me, he has Imperial officer written all over him.
Or has Felicity Jones found her first co-pilot? Deadline reports that Ben Mendelsohn, star of Netflix’s new series Bloodline and the somewhat less prominent Daggett in The Dark Knight Rises, is close to being the next actor cast in Gareth Edwards’ Star Wars spin-off Rogue One.
Since Mendelsohn hasn’t officially been signed, and there’s been no rumors of who the film’s characters might be, it’s too soon to speculate about who he made be playing. But when has that every stopped anybody? I suspect he’s going to be playing some kind of a villain, either an Imperial pilot, officer, or even a bounty hunter or alien. As his IMDB page says at the very beginning, he’s best known ” in Hollywood as a character actor known for playing villains and criminals.” Seeing as Lucasfilm is surely on the lookout for actors to play memorable villains in their plethora of Star Wars movies, I’m guessing they want Mendelsohn to play to his strengths
