Oni Press opening up electronic submissions in May. This is the best.

ONI

Oni Press is going to begin accepting electronic submissions and pitches in May, which is gnarly as fuck. As I told my brother in an excited text, if he doesn’t submit OMNI, I will for him!

Robot 6:

At a time when most major publishers don’t accept unsolicited submissions, Oni Press is bucking convention.

The Portland, Oregon-based publisher announced this morning that it will begin accepting electronic submissions and pitches in May, not only from artists but from writers and colorists as well. More details are promised in May.

Founded in 1997, Oni publishes comics ranging from Scott Pilgrim and Stumptown to The Bunker and the upcoming Invader Zim.

“We are on the hunt for new stories from new creators, featuring characters that reflect the diversity of the world around us,” Editor-in-Chief James Lucas Jones said in a statement. “Oni Press has always valued content and execution, and we are looking for creators and projects that can support our goal to publish excellent, varied, and original work.”

Earlier this week the company announced three editorial promotions: Charlie Chu from editor to senior editor; Robin Herrera from associate editor to editor; and Ari Yarwood from editorial assistant to assistant editor.

Oni also plans to reveal seven new titles in the lead-up to Emerald City Comicon, held March 27-29 in Seattle.

Oni Press has become a fave of mine over the last year, between The BunkerThe Auteur, and Letter 44. I imagine this will only increase the amount of new, intriguing talent they’re bringing to the game.  Have at it, talented and enterprising creators! Have at it!
