‘Evangelion’ TV series coming to Blu-Ray. Remastered as f**k

bruh

Evangelion. One of my many sources for being a whiny, existentially angsty douche during my teenage years. Long have I longed to watch it again in high-definition, on a piece of modern technology. Cause like, the remake movies sort of suck, and I miss it. The time!, the time has come.

io9:

The wait is almost over! Studio Khara — new owners of the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime franchise — have announced that they will finally be remastering the classic ’90s TV series in HD for the show’s first-ever Blu-ray release.

Right now, this of course refers to a specifically Japanese release, but if you think if some U.S. anime company — presumably Funimation — isn’t going to be releasing this in America, I’d like to sell you the rights to Gundam. There are no details about the release date or the price, of course, but here’s what Khara plans for their ultimate box set courtesy of ANN:

The HD-remastered Neon Genesis Evangelion Blu-ray box will contain all 26 episodes of the original television anime, as well as the video format version of episodes 21-24. The set will also contain the films Evangelion: Death & Rebirth (including the first Japanese home video release of this version of the Death portion), The End of Evangelion, as well as Revival of Evangelion
(with Death (True) 2 and the two halves of The End of Evangelion).

There will also be a DVD set containing the original broadcast version of Evangelion, which… is pretty definitively not as good as what ended up on home video, so don’t worry whether it makes it over here or not.

Goddamn, yes! Bebop is dropping on Blu-Ray in two weeks, and this is coming next year. Huzzah.
