Tarantino’s ‘The Hateful Eight’ trailer running before ‘Sin City’
Wait — what? Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight is getting a trailer that will run before the new Sin City: Grime Grime Noir Time movie. This is particularly cool because, uh, the film hasn’t even begun filming yet. So like. What’s it going to be?
So what’s the deal with Quentin Tarantino’s “The Hateful Eight”? After initially scrapping the project after the script leaked, Tarantino did a complete 180, staging a live read and then last month the first poster dropped, promising a roadshow release of the movie in 2015. And now, the movie, which has yet to have a single frame shot (as far as we know), has a teaser trailer coming. Really.
Slashfilm dug around here and there and has now confirmed that on DCP prints of Tarantino pal Robert Rodriguez’s “Sin City: A Dame To Kill For,” a 1:47 teaser trailer for ‘The Hateful Eight’ will unspool. That’s a lot of time for an unfilmed project. Perhaps there will be audio or footage from the live read? Maybe it will involve Quentin Tarantino yelling about Gawker? Maybe it’s special material QT shot specifically for this ad? Who knows. Oh, and there’s one more thing —according to promotional copy sent to theatre owners, this trailer will not go online. At least not in an official capacity.
