Kurt Russell: Tarantino’s ‘The Hateful Eight’ may shoot in early 2015
Kurt Russell. Don’t fucking tease me, brolo. Don’t be running your gorgeous, Plisskenian lips about a new Tarantino joint if you don’t mean it. If it ain’t substantiated. ‘Cause telling me the filming may begin in early 2015 got my balls a-flutter.
You know the story by now: Quentin Tarantino decided that “The Hateful Eight” would be his next film, an early version of the script leaked and then he said he wasn’t going to make it at all, and then he was all like, “Fuck it, I’m gonna keep working on the script anyway.” Earlier this spring, the director staged a live read with a starry ensemble — Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Tim Roth, Amber Tamblyn, Walton Goggins, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, James Parks, Denis Menochet, Dana Gourrier, Zoe Bell, James Remar — which our review noted was a flawed but compelling re-enactment of the first draft script. But with QT making revisions, he may already have his eye on getting this thing made again.
Kurt Russell (who played bounty hunter John Ruth in the live read) was asked by Cinema Blend about what’s coming up, and the actor provided a brief but tantalizing answer: “There’s a Tarantino project called ‘The Hateful Eight’ that looks like it may go somewhere around the beginning of the year.” [Play List]
