Wait. KEVIN FEIGE ordered the ‘ANT-MAN’ rewrites? Interesting++
So after like four days or whatever (three years if you’re counting the time I spent in my Time Shed after this calamity), I’m not as distraught about Edgar Wright leaving Ant-Man. Actually. That’s probably a lie. But even as the wounds try to heal, more news continues to trickle out. When this story first broke, one of the surprising morsels was that the script rewrites were ordered by someone above MCU Czar Mind-Lord, Kevin Feige. But apparently! That ain’t true.
There’s no official story on an Ant-Man delay because officially, there is no Ant-Man delay. As of now, Marvel still has the movie slotted for next summer. However, sources close to the situation have cast doubt on the timeline while speaking to THR.
For one thing, Marvel has yet to lock in a new director. For another, when Wright left, so did a bunch of key crew members — so Marvel needs to find replacements for all of them as well. And on top of all that, the production was already running behind schedule to begin with thanks to the rewrite process.
Shooting on Ant-Man was originally supposed to begin June 2, but got pushed back to July 28 when Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige ordered revisions to Wright and Joe Cornish‘s script. Those revisions, as we now know, are what led Wright to walk. [/Film]
Is it better or worse, that Feige was the dude behind the rewrites? The OL group was collectively aghast (okay a few of us were) when it seemed that Feige wasn’t the Final Master of the MCU. With word that it was him — part of me is like “Oh phew he still calls the shots, and he hasn’t fucked up yet.” The other part of me is like — “You’re fucking up, Feige.”
