Monday Morning Commute: SHALL WE BEGIN?

MMC.

Welcome to Monday Morning Commute – the weekly tribal meeting where those upon the SpaceShip Omega share what they’re interested in during the next seven or so days. The exercise is designed to pollinate each other’s lives with both shared and new arts and farts, in an effort to mitigate the tediousness that Existence can become.

Time is short, let’s tug on one another.

Star Trek Into Darkness.

J.J. Abrams’ second Star Wars warm-up arrives this week!
I can’t speak to the criticisms that Abrams’ Star Trek reboot is too unlike the the established Universe. You see, I never watched any Trek. Suck it, dork faces! Naw, I consider it a personal fault. What I can speak to is the overall vibe that Abrams’ gives off in the first film, and how it makes me horny. Namely, the vibe was “Jesus I’ll never make a Star Wars, so I’ll send them to Hoth. Oh yeah, and Kirk is Han Solo.”

I imagine this vibe will continue in this second movie, serving as a glorious preamble to his entrance into the (wait for it, #trolling) real Space Franchise.

Saga.

Okay folks I really need a fucking comic book to get excited about.
I’m talking — way — fucking excited. It’s been a serious fucking minute since I traveled to either the physical or digital funny book stores, with my interest in the current slop filling the racks at a recent nadir. This is not an indictment of the medium — though it is of the majority of the bullshit the Big Two are publishing — so please help me out. You may even blow my tits off with something from the Churn Factories. I want to be excited about a comic book.

EVANGELION 3

I finally watched Evangelion 3.33 – You Can (Not) Redo and it was sort of a pile of shit.
Sooo…has anyone seen the third EVA remake? I caught it over the weekend with a friend. Say wut. Even two days later, I’m not really sure how I feel about it. The film is visually stunning. There is no getting around it. And yet, I can’t help but be put off by the endeavor. It isn’t that it deviates so sharply from the original content. The second film did that, and I didn’t mind. Rather my problem with the film stems from the fact that the Mushy Incoherent Plot + Philosophical Blatherings have been dialed up to Infinity. It’s hard to give a shit about any of the characters in the film, since they’re all secondary to Hideaki Anno’s fucking dumb musings.

That said, I sort of want to watch it again. It’s pretty.

So that’s really it for me this week, lasses and lads. What are you enjoying? Inspire me.
