Zack Snyder: ‘MAN OF STEEL’ keeping things on course for ‘JUSTICE LEAGUE.’ Wee?
Lost in the noise regarding JGL donning Batman’s mantle – possibly – is this white noise eminating out of Zack Snyder’s throat. Homeboy is throwing down about Man of Steel, and how it will tie into DC’s Not Avengers. Normally I’d be breathing hot fart hate, but I quite enjoyed the teaser trailer for the film. Keeping that in mind, while ruminating on the hot groin love of 300, I will try and mitigate my snark.
Play List:
Such are the days we live in that Zack Snyder‘s “Man Of Steel” is still half a year away from hitting theaters, and questions are already being asked about a sequel and how it may or may not tie into Warner Bros. plans for “Justice League.” Actually, the latter question has been asked as far back as spring of 2011, and if anything, we’ve seen a slow erosion from an outright denial to what amounts to “no comment,” more or less.
“I don’t know how ‘Justice League’ is going to be handled. Honestly, I don’t. But ‘The Man of Steel’ exists, and Superman is in it. I don’t know how you’d move forward without acknowledging that,” Snyder recently told the New York Post. When pressed further about whether or not there have been discussions about “Justice League” and where his movie will fit, Sndyer teased: “Um, how can I answer that? I can’t really say anything to that, because that’s a big spoiler. I will say, yeah, they trust me to keep them on course.”
So make of that comment what you will, but it’s a far cry from when Snyder said, ” ‘Justice League’ will be its own thing with its own Batman and own Superman.” And you’ll remember that over the summer, reports surfaced that “Man Of Steel” could connect to “Justice League.” However, our guess? Nothing is definitive yet. We’d wager that the studio won’t be ready to make a decision on how Superman will fit into “Justice League” until they see how the movie does, and more specifically, how fans take to Henry Cavill in the role. But should he prove to be the one who successfully revives the hero on the big screen, we’d guess it’ll be a no brainer to make sure he’s a major part of the teamup movie.
But expect rumors to continue swirling as they always do with recent reports pegging Armie Hammer to play Batmanlike he was supposed to do in George Miller‘s aborted version, and the possibility of Lobo being among the comic heroes in the movie. And oh yeah, about “Man Of Steel 2“?
“We approach the film as a single endeavor. There are a lot of gears that have to turn in the world of commerce and the world of the mythology we create to facilitate more adventures for this character. We’ll see what happens,” Snyder says. Essentially, if it’s a hit, those gears in the world of commerce will be turning mighty quickly.
