Famke Jansse dropping JEAN GREY cameo in ‘The Wolverine’, aiight.
Don’t really care for Famke Janssen one way or the other appearing in The Wolverine. What I do give a shit about is keeping her out of the First Class universe, but I’m not holding my breath. How do you folks feel?
/Film:
We Got This Covered (via AICN) reports that Famke Janssen, who played Jean Grey inX-Men, X2, and X-Men: The Last Stand, has flown to Australia to shoot a cameo. It’s unclear how exactly she’ll fit into the story. The Wolverine is assumed to be a prequel to 2000′s X-Men, and the characters’ encounter in that movie suggested they’d never met before. Maybe the Wolverine filmmakers will retcon an explanation, or maybe they’re just figuring that if X-Men never explicitly said the two had never met, they can just fudge it and say they met briefly, once, a long time ago. Or perhaps part of The Wolverine will take place closer to the present.
The news comes shortly after the actress made coy comments regarding her possible return to the X-Men universe. When MTV brought up the subject during an interview for Taken 2, Janssen responded, “One never knows. Jean Grey, the Phoenix. She finds a way to reincarnate herself constantly, so one never knows.” Janssen isn’t the only former X-Men star coming back to the franchise, either. A few weeks ago, Patrick Stewart announced that he’d be reprising his role as Professor X for X-Men: Days of Future Past, and suggested that some of his other co-stars (including Janssen) might do the same.
