MARK MILLAR signs on with FOX as ‘X-MEN’ and ‘FANTASTIC FOUR’ consultant. I think this sucks.

Ah, as the tides turn. If this has occurred before Mark Millar spent his writing hours upon a toilet, blowing hate both out of his skull and ass, I would be stoked. Alas, I no longer am. Let’s see how many uncomfortable rape jokes and juvenile ethnic jokes he can slide into these two properties.

“Kick-Ass” and “Wanted” creator Mark Millar has signed a deal with 20th Century Fox to serve as a creative consultant on its X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises.

The studio, which holds the film rights to those Marvel properties effectively in perpetuity, is now shooting “The Wolverine,” with “X-Men: End of Days,”the sequel to “X-Men: First Class” set to begin production in January. A “Fantastic Four” reboot,helmed by “Chronicle” director Josh Trank, is expected to go in front of the as early as next spring.

Millar, whose Marvel comics resume includes “Ultimate X-Men,” “The Ultimates,” “Wolverine” and “Fantastic Four,” will “work with Fox on developing new avenues for its ‘X-Men’ and ‘Fantastic Four’ tentpoles,” according to the official announcement.

“As someone who has spent his entire life obsessed with both comic-books and movies, this is essentially my dream gig as it’s a unique combination of both,” Millar said in a statement. “I spent 10 years working at Marvel and am really happy with the work I did on the comic side of things so the idea of working with these characters now in a brand new medium is enormously exciting for me. I really like the Fox team, love this bold new direction they have for their franchises and am proud to be working alongside some of modern cinema’s biggest talents. James Mangold is incredible, Matthew Vaughn’s one of my closest pals and Josh Trank gave us, in my opinion, one of the greatest superhero movies of the last decade with Chronicle. The invitation to join this crew was maybe the coolest phone-call I’ve ever had.”
