KICKSTART This Rock: ‘SULLIVAN’S SLUGGERS’ By Smith and Stokoe

Regulars around here know that we worship at the altar of James Stokoe and the unfettered insanity that is Orc Stain. The good Stokoe has teamed up with writer Mark Andrew Smith (Gladstone’s School for World Conquerors) to bring the world another flavor of bonkers. Old baseball sluggers versus zombies? Hell yes. Don’t get too excited, though. These good people, they need our goddamn help.

Rather than going through a traditional publisher, however, the creators are  taking advantage of Kickstarter  to distribute the book directly to readers. That’s different from the trend that Chris Arrant recently pointed out in whichKickstarter campaigns sometimes lead to traditional publishing deals. Instead, Smith and Stokoe are offeringSullivan’s Sluggers  exclusively to Kickstarter supporters.

Prices start at $10 for a PDF copy, but a $30 pledge will get you the PDF and a copy of the  200-page, full-color hardcover. Other pledge brackets include T-shirts and multiple copies of the book.

Smith describes the plot this way:

Long past their former glory, the minor league Sluggers get an invitation to play a  baseballgame  in a cursed small town. After the 7th inning stretch, the sun goes down, and the dysfunctional teammates find themselves fighting for their lives against a town of flesh-eating monsters!

Now, it’s up to coach Casey Sullivan to help his team escape from being the next dish in the town’s terrifying feeding frenzy!
