RON SWANSON Wants to be ‘THE THING’ In ‘Fantastic Four’ Reboot. C’mon People.
Nick Offerman plays Ron Swanson on Parks and Rec, arguably one of the greatest characters in modern fiction. However it turns out that Offerman has another deep, deep, desire. To participate in some clobberin’ time.
io9:
A few shows back on the podcast WTF with Marc Maron, Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally popped by to talk about Parks & Recreation, the theater and Hollywood and superhero movies. And during this hour long interview, Offerman mentioned he’d wanted to play Ben Grimm from Fantastic Four. And how his dreams were cruelly crushed by Michael Chiklis.
But maybe Offerman’s time has come? Last we heard, the studios were talking about aFantastic Four reboot. Chronicle director Josh Trank was rumored to be attached, butinstead he’s adapting the comic The Red Star). At the very least the rumors may mean there’s some interest in bringing Thing back to the big screen – which, in turn, means there’s a small chance for a Ron Swanson superhero movie!
Here’s a brief transcript from the interview:
Marc Maron: I’m sure you could probably be a pretty menacing heavy. If you wanted. You remind me of, do you know Michael Chiklis. Are you guys friends?
Nick Offerman: No, I’ve never met him but I was really upset when he got to play Ben Grimm in the Fantastic Four. That’s the only superhero with a big head. All these years I was like, “Someday they’re gonna make Fantastic Four, and I’m gonna be the one saying, “It’s clobberin’ time!”
I don’t even know if he’d work — but fuck it. Can’t be any worse than the previous iteration, amirite?
