Fan-Made HD Chrono Trigger Could Be on the Way
For years, there have been rampant discussions about authorized and unauthorized reproductions of Square’s RPG touchstone Chrono Trigger. Merely mentioning the game in any way, shape, or form gets fans (like me) extremely interested. It’s that fantastic of a game. Now, judging by a start-menu screen cap that was tossed up on reddit, it appears that a fan-made version will be making its way to the internet. Check it out after the jump.
The collective CT community indubitably salivates at the prospects of some high-def time-travel merriment with Chrono and friends. (Reading the optimistic responses on the reddit page makes me feel all warm inside.) It’s a very cool possibility. I am curious to see where this all goes from here. But hey: if worse comes to worst, we always have the SNES version, perfect the way it is. So, as fans, we are in good shape no matter what time predicament we find ourselves in. The narrative threads of this tale, powered by 16-bit microprocessors or anything beyond, lead to one destination for us–gaming greatness.
