Ridley Scott Doesn’t Know If Ford Will Be In New ‘Blade Runner’, Teases ‘Prometheus’ Sequel
Man, think you’re confused about all the Blade Runner sequel news? You’re not alone. In fact, it looks like the director of the flick doesn’t have a fucking clue. Making it apparent at this time that the movie exists only as “Oh yeah something we’re going to do. It’ll be neat.” And oh yeah!, Prometheus sequel possibilities.
Play List:
First it was reported Harrison Ford was in talks for the brewing new “Blade Runner” movie, then that wasshot down by the film’s producer, but now, director Ridley Scott reveals he really has no idea at this point.
“No. Don’t know yet. Don’t know yet,” Scott told EW when the magazine asked him about the possibility of Deckard returning, adding that he wouldn’t rule it out. Why is this all up in the air? Because they have yet to crack the story, or even determine if it will take place before or after the seminal sci-fi film. “We’re still in discussions about whether it should be a prequel or sequel. It’s an interesting conversation. I’m meeting with writers and I’ve also gone back to [original ‘Blade Runner’ screenwriter] Hampton Fancher and he still speaks the speak. He’s right there. I spoke with him this week. But we don’t even have a script yet,” Scott explains.
Asked why he chose to return to the “Blade Runner” world at all, Scott reveals that the “enjoyable” experience of making “Prometheus” had him excited about the idea. He also adds, “I’m also thinking about what the hell I might do for a ‘Prometheus 2’ ” before literally knocking on wood when asked if there would be one.
I’m sorry if you’re tired of the deluge of speculation. Tipping of my hand: Blade Runner is one of my favorite things ever, and so I’m a bit addicted to following all the news and speculation.
