Bill Murray Tore Up ‘Ghostbusters 3’ Trip. Chill Out, Venkman!

Bill Murray is the lynchpin of Ghostbusters, and the last part of the third installment coming together. How is the persuading of ole Billy going? Not very well.

The National Enquirer (grain of salt!) is reporting that Murray, who was granted script approval, returned his latest copy of the Ghostbusters 3 script to Dan Aykroyd in tatters.

Word has it that Murray refused to take the producers’ calls after they had sent out rewrites. But they finally got an answer on their latest draft after Murray sent Aykroyd and Harold Ramis the papers back shredded, with the note “No one wants to pay money to see fat, old men chasing ghosts!”

The paper also implies that this was the last straw and the two may just forge on and make Ghostbusters 3 without him. Which would be a massive mistake – Murray is the heart of Ghostbusters. He may be difficult, but hasn’t he earned that right? If the whole shredding story is true that’s plenty overdramatic. But let’s be real, no Peter Venkman, no Ghostbusters…even if just for a cameo.

Can’t tell if Murray is being curmudgeon as usual, or if script sucks.
