‘Bond 23’ Officially Titled ‘Skyfall’. Alright, Let’s Do This.
I can’t remember a fucking thing about Quantum of The Pinnacle’s Solar Drive or whatever the last Bond movie was called. I just know that I liked it, describing it to our own Eduardo Pluto as having an indecipherable plot but featuring “hot people shooting and fucking” which was (sadly?) enough for me. So I’m ready for a new Bond, replete with the same.
Slashfilm:
After months – years, really – of rumors about the next James Bond film, it’s nice to finally have some actual facts to sink our teeth into. As shooting on the film began today, director Sam Mendes, his producers, and several of his stars held a press conference giving away some tidibts about the film we’ve been referring to as Bond 23. Among the things we’ve learned: the actual title of the film, which characters some of the actors will be playing, and a basic concept of the plot. More details after the jump.
Today’s event confirmed an earlier rumor that the movie would be called Skyfall, a title that producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli say “has emotional context which will be revealed in the film.” Skyfall will tell a standalone story not based on any of Ian Fleming‘s novels and not related to the Quantum plot thread from the two previous installments. The official plot synopsis, as posted by the @007 Twitteraccount, reads as follows: “Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.”
We also learned that Javier Bardem would indeed be playing the villain, as he’s said in the past, though we still don’t know much else about his character. Naomie Harris will play a field agent named Eve – not Moneypenny as previous reports suggested, unless there’s some sort of plot twist we don’t know about yet – while Bérénice Marlohe will play a “glamorous, enigmatic character called Severin.” Dame Judi Dench and – obviously – Daniel Craig are set to reprise their parts from the previous films; Ben Whishaw, Ralph Fiennes, and Albert Finney will also appear in Skyfall, but the exact nature of their roles have not been revealed.
I find this terribly titillating.
