Breaking Bad: Shotgun

Although this terrific episode ended on a grim note with Walt’s egoism forcing him to suggest to Hank that Heisenberg isn’t dead, this is the first episode in a long time where everyone seemed to get what they want. Skyler got her car wash, slept with Walt, then invites Walt to move back in. That satisfies Skyler, Walt, and Junior. Gus gets Jesse back on track through a sly promotion. And Hank’s interest in Gale’s homicide has given him back his sense of purpose and has brought about some peace in the Schrader household.

After their romp in bed and invitation to move back in, Walt should be happy as hell. He’s been waiting for this since season 2. But watching Walt sit at the Schrader dinner table, surrounded by family, he was anything but happy. He was out of his element. Being with family and talking about legit business ventures aren’t his thing anymore. He’s a meth cook and a murderer. On top of that, he’s still commanded by his titanic pride – digging his own grave deeper once again. Letting Gale get the credit for his “blue” is not something Walter White will stand for. He could have been home clear, but his big mouth and ego has reignited the Hunt for Heinsenberg.

A lot of speculation followed last week’s episode concerning where Mike was driving Jesse. No one really believed it was to bump him off (not even Jesse), but I don’t think anyone guessed it was to take him on a dead-drop ride-a-long. With the staged attack at the end of a long day, Gus managed to give Jesse a much needed confidence boost and something else Jesse needed: some pride of his own. In his own subtle, wily way, Gus has won some points with Jesse. This becomes apparent when Jesse talks with Walk later in the lab. Now Jesse thinks Walt isn’t pulling his own weight work. Everyone hates slacker co-workers!

AMC has announced that the final 16 episodes of Breaking Bad have been ordered. Rejoice! No word yet on whether this will be one or two seasons, but my bet’s on two.

IN BRIEF: Walt gave the manager at Los Pollos Hermanos his real name. His defensive paranoia may have caused him to slip that out. This may bite him in the ass at some point since Hank’s sight are set on that place now. — — Mike was stern about Jesse not smoking in the car. More evidence to his possible cancer. — — I’m not feeling this Tyrus guy who replaced Victor.
