Major Female Role In Batman 3 Revealed! Plus Shortlist of Actresses.

I’m goddamn tired of all the Batman 3/The Dark Knight Rises/Bruce Wayne Runs Like Hell rumors. Can we get some concrete fucking casting news? No? We have to rummage through rumors like pigs through shit? Okay, okay. Better than nothing.

Importantly, tonight we may have confirmation of the character of my wet dreams, Talia Al Ghul. Raise the roof!

So who are these actresses in line to play? According to THR, the two roles are a villain and a love interest. And one of those two is Talia Al Ghul, daughter of the first movie’s villain, Ra’s Al Ghul. (Who, as THR points out, eventually has Bruce Wayne’s baby in the comics.) Who’s the other woman?  Inside sources tell Collider that she might be Vicki Vale, the plucky reporter last seen in Tim Burton’s 1989  Batman film.

Fucking awesome. If we’re rocking out through the narrative sensibility of a trilogy, bringing in Talia Al Ghul to complete the circuit makes sense. Plus, I really enjoy her character and I’d make any excuse to see her. io9 doesn’t just stop there with the tip-teasing though. Apparently there’s speculation as to who is in the running for these roles.

According to THR, three established actresses are front-runners to co-star in  Rises: Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Biel. But two relative unknowns are also in the running: Rooney Mara’s sister Kate, and Tom Hardy’s fiancee, Charlotte Riley. Gemma Arterton might also be in the running, but she’s just landed the lead role in  Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. Also, rumored possibilities Naomi Watts and Eva Green may be too busy with other projects.

Righteous. The article goes on to state that Eva Green is “in the running” for Talia, should she exactly exist in the script, and Watts would be up for Vicky Vale. It’s all hearsay. But I daresay I love this hearsay.
